The much-Instagrammed installation that formerly sat atop Rule Gallery on Santa Fe Drive was on loan to the MCA from a private collection.
"It is a really momentous event in the history of the MCA," said Adam Lerner, the Mark G. Falcone Director and Chief Animator. "It’s equivalent to the founding of the museum. In many ways this is really setting us up for the next chapter."
Some council members still have concerns, but there don't appear to be the votes for a sunset clause. A final vote is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 30.
