Sorry, Tesla people: A regular old gas car won Pikes Peak this year

The race up Pikes Peak again became a showcase for electric vehicle technology this year, but the EVs ultimately wouldn’t win it.

Romain Dumas, a Swiss driver, took top honors with a fossil-fuel racer in 8 minutes and 51 seconds. In their defense, however, electrics took three of the next four positions.

A Tesla Model S was among the racers too, but it trailed the leaders by a few minutes.
