The space at 8 Broadway that once housed The Crypt — an adult store — is finally getting a new tenant: Graphic.
As much as that sounds like another adult store, it’s not. As BusinessDen reports, Greg Gallagher — who owns Front Porch, Gaslamp and Roosevelt — is putting a bar in the 3,100-square-foot space. That’s right next to the former Walnut Room, which remains empty, for now.
“One of our buddies is the owner of Baker Wine and Spirits, and he had been telling us that we need to check out Broadway,” Gallagher told BusinessDen. “We’ve always been looking for new avenues and places to look and he mentioned he saw a vacancy driving home at the old Crypt location.”
Graphic will be beer-focused, with around 25 taps and 40-60 bottles and cans. The staff will be trained in making standard cocktails at Roosevelt, but those offerings will limited. There will be no food menu.
Gallagher told BusinessDen that he signed a 10-year lease and he’s hoping to open in June or July.
Westword reported last year that the Crypt closed due to unpaid taxes.
