I've heard it so many times, I was sure it was just an urban legend. But it's true: Denver has more pot shops than Starbucks. Like a lot more.
That disparity only goes up when looking the state overall, too -- there are more than three times as many marijuana storefronts in the state than Starbucks, reports Rocky Mountain PBS I-News.
But if you look at it on a neighborhood level, there are some bastions of America's giant coffee overlord left in Denver.
Consider the Central Business District, where Starbucks outnumber dispensaries 4 to 1. Or maybe the Cherry Creek and Hampden neighborhoods, where there are at least 3 more Starbucks than dispensaries.
But who are we kidding, right? The margins in weed-dominant neighborhoods are much higher, with multiple neighborhoods clocking as many 9 more dispensaries than corporate coffee franchisees.
