About a month ago, an outdoor retail giant VF Corporation announced it would be opening up a headquarters for five of their of their brands in the Denver area. Today, they have announced that the physical location of that headquarters will be 1551 Wewatta St.
VF will occupy all 10 floors of the 285,000-square-foot building and will be there for the length of a 12-year lease.
“It’s the ideal setting for us to create a dynamic, collaborative working environment where our business, brands and employees can thrive,” VF chairman, president and CEO Steve Rendle said in a press release.
It will take VF a little while to get situated in their new home. They will begin renovations in early 2019 with an anticipated completion date of 2020. VF’s leaders say the renovations will be in line with their vision to use holistic and sustainable practices throughout every aspect of their company. The building’s capacity is 1,200 people, which is significantly more than the 800 jobs VF said it planned to deliver in Denver over the next eight years, which presents VF with an opportunity to expand.
Denver’s leadership is excited about this latest announcement, and Mayor Michael Hancock is hailing this successful recruitment effort as a show of economic progress Denver has made.
“We’re thrilled to extend a Mile High welcome to VF,” he said in the release. “This is clearly a signature recruitment that underscores Denver’s culture of innovation, our burgeoning outdoor recreation sector, and our highly educated workforce. We are proud they’ve chosen to grow in Denver, and we look forward to their continued success here while forging opportunities for our community.”
