Nationwide renters are searching for homes in Denver more than in any other city in the West.
Denver is the fifth most searched destination in the United States, according to the monthly rent activity report from the online rental marketplace, RentCafe.
Arlington, VA tops the list, followed by Kansas City, Minneapolis and Cincinnati, making the Midwest the most sought-after region nationwide in the top five. After Denver, the Bronx, Atlanta, Albuquerque, Orlando and Durham round out the top 10 cities.
In the top 30 cities, the South is the most desirable region.
The rankings are based on millions of searches in the top 150 cities in the country on RentCafe.
Denver, which has consistently made the top 30 list, is more desirable than it has been over the past year.
Last month, the city was in 11th place, and in June's report, the city was the 15th most searched.
Year over year, searches for Denver apartments are up 40% and properties favorited by apartment hunters are up 133%.
There's been a 12% rise in saved searches.
The average rent, for Denver properties listed on Rent Cafe, is $2,000.
The city had 1% fewer apartments listed on Rent Cafe this month than in July, suggesting that with higher demand the number of homes available to rent has decreased slightly.
How are other cities in the West doing?
The other popular cities in the West include Albuquerque, in eighth place; Portland in fourteenth; and the Phoenix suburbs Chandler in 20th place, Gilbert in 22nd, and Peoria, in 29th.
Colorado's third largest city, Aurora, is number 30.
Colorado Springs is the only other city in the state counted. It falls in eightieth place.
