La Raza Park became the city's third historical cultural district earlier this year, putting a stamp on years of community action to solidify the park's legacy as a hub for Chicano culture, community and history.

That historic and cultural fabric will be celebrated this Sunday at the fifth annual La Raza Park Day.

From 1-5 p.m. on Aug. 27, lowriders will cruise around the park as festgoers enjoy goods from local vendors, music, cultural performances and lucha libre in honor of Denver's Chicano culture.

According to organizers, last year's celebration saw over 3,500 people attend the event.

This year,  Royalty CC and The Impalas will put on the car show. Expect colorfully airbrushed and pinstriped cars showcasing imagery that honors a rich Mexican Indigenous ancestry.

Music will be provided by the award-winning Latin Soul Party. The entertainment will also include three high-adrenaline matches presented by Hugo's Lucha Libre. Local Aztec dancers will perform during the opening ceremony and blessing.

Vendors, including Carnitas Don Juan, will be set up on the basketball court along 39th Ave. and local artists Guerilla Garden and Generation Mexica will also be in attendance.
