A Colorado roofing company is offering a fun new promotion: buy one roof, get one semi-automatic weapon free.

Weatherproof Roofing & Exteriors in Castle Rock announced a “Get a roof, get a gun!” promotion through October 1. Every customer who signs a contract for a roof replacement and exterior weather repairs receives their choice of AR-15, handgun, self-defense shotgun or gift certificate, according to the website.

AR-15s are primarily used in hunting and competition target shooting. The National Shooting Sports Foundation says these weapons are not machine guns, nor do they shoot more than one round at a time.

But the promotion has attracted some ire, ABC7 reports. AR-15s were the weapon of choice in the San Bernardino shooting, the 2015 Colorado Springs rampage and the Sandy Hook shooting, according to a database compiled by Mother Jones.

The company says they won’t back down.

“Just like the AR-15 we’re promoting, our roofs are built for Americans, by Americans,” the promotion reads. “We chose the AR-15 for this promotion because, for patriots like us, its true representation is the high cost of freedom we enjoy in these United States.”

Weatherproof partnered with Centennial Gun Club to provide the promotional weapons. There will be no cap on the amount of guns distributed until the October 1 cut-off date, though Weatherproof emphasizes that clients must pass federal background checks and encourages them to attend firearms safety classes before operating machinery.
