LITTLETON, Colo. (AP) — Air medical helicopters flew over and landed at the future site of a permanent memorial to those who died trying to help patients.

The memorial near Denver will honors air medical crews who lost their lives, recognizing the sacrifice of more than 400 crew members who have died since 1972.

Those remembered include Colorado Flight for Life pilot Patrick Mahany, who died when a Flight for Life helicopter crashed in Frisco last year.

Names will be added every year to remember those who die while on medical missions.
