It’s the busiest month ever at DIA again

Does it feel like every weekend one of your friends flies into Denver to come and visit you? The stats back you up on that, Denver International Airport just keeps on breaking travel records.
This July, 9.1 percent more people traveled through DIA for a total of 5.47 million people. Not only is that the highest monthly total ever for the airport, it’s about 200,000 more than last month’s record.
While that’s not broken down further into how many people left the airport to crash on your couch, then sheepishly ask to go to a dispensary, my guess is that you know at least one such traveler.
At any rate, these travel rates mean that 7.2 percent more people have traveled through DIA than during the same time in 2015.
Airport CEO Kim Day credits the busy summer travel season and increased seat capacity for the boost.
“We also saw a strong increase in international passenger traffic in July, which was bolstered by Lufthansa’s decision to up-gauge the aircraft used for its new nonstop flight to Munich, adding 25 percent more seats for this popular route,” she said in a release.
