Richard Sandoval's high-end Asian fusion restaurant Zengo will reopen for dinner at Riverside Park on Monday.
The restaurant closed at the end of August for remodeling and a menu overhaul.
Now under the leadership of executive chef, Robert “BJ” Wojtowicz -- formerly of Eleven Madison Park in New York, The French Laundry in California and Restaurant Kevin Taylor in Denver -- the menu highlights Asian cuisine. Offerings include sushi, sashimi, omakase, dim sum -- including char siu pork buns and short rib dumplings -- curry dishes and grilled entrées like wok dishes, U.S. Prime tenderloin and BBQ pork ribs.
On Wednesday, Zengo gave Denver a look inside the remodeled space designed by Dubai’s LW Design Group. The dark, black and blue space remains true to the avian theme promised back in August, with bird cage-like bars dividing sections of the room and origami-style birds sculptures hanging from the ceiling and painted on the walls.
“When I opened Zengo in Denver in 2003, I was inspired by my travels, and passionate about bringing an entirely new style of cuisine to the city of Denver,” Sandoval said in a statement. “More than a decade later, following the recent re-opening of Zengo in Dubai, I’m excited to re-introduce a fresh new Zengo to my home city. The new Zengo will offer a blend of predominantly Asian flavors and design elements inspired by my more recent travels. I’m incredibly thankful for the support we’ve received throughout the years, and I look forward to the next 10 amazing years.”
Dinner hours are 4 to 11 p.m. daily, happy hour is from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and brunch will return sometime in late October, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
