The Denver Broncos needed a running back. Justin Forsett needed an opportunity. So on Monday, the Broncos picked up the veteran tailback off the waiver wire.
The move adds depth behind the lone Broncos' running back who's healthy right now, rookie Devontae Booker. It also sets up a reunion between Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak and Forsett.
Kubiak and Forsett worked together in 2014, when Kubiak spent a season as the Baltimore Ravens' offensive coordinator. Forsett excelled that year, rushing for a career-best 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns.
Now the question is: Does Forsett have anything left in the tank? Forsett, 31, has averaged 3.1 yards per carry this season with two different teams.
Forsett will likely back up Devontae Booker. Broncos starting running back C.J. Anderson remains on the injured reserve following meniscus surgery in late October. Third-string running back Kapri Bibbs, who played well against the Jaguars, is also out after he sprained his ankle Sunday.
Forsett, who's in contention for the best Twitter avi in the game, seemed to confirm the move on the social media platform Monday afternoon.
