Condolences to City Park West and nearby residents on the loss of Il Posto. I know it hurts to lose your local spot for upscale Italian food -- I'm right there with you.
But its new location in River North is awfully nice.
26th and Larimer looks... different.
Yes, it's very Nu Denver. But Il Posto has been faithfully serving Denver for nearly a decade now, albeit in a more humble location. I won't begrudge them the upgraded digs.
It's pretty inside.
Enjoy a patio view without the wind and bugs and, at this time of year, the bitter cold.
My phone picture really doesn't do it justice.
Eat way too much bread while you make decisions.
Honestly I would have been perfectly happy just eating this bread all night.
Hold off on the wine list for now and start with a cocktail.
Their Italian Manhattan (left) is made with Four Roses bourbon, Cardamaro, Cocchi sweet vermouth and Amarena cherry. The Campo di Fiori is Wheeler's gin, Aperol, St. Germain, lime juice and prosecco float.
Get some burrata, too, if you're feeling ambitious.
I was so eager to eat the burrata, which I call "mozzarella on steroids," that I messed up the nice presentation.
(It's mozzarella mixed with cream with an outer shell of mozzarella.)
Do you even have room for pasta now?
One of two risotto options, this one is made with Meyer lemon, chives, sunflower seeds and roasted sunchokes.
Sunchokes, also known as Jerusalem artichokes, are really great. They look kind of like a ginger root when they're whole, are native to eastern North America and have a nutty sweetness to them.
Comical bowl, delicious spaghetti.
Nothing accents your reasonable portion like a weird dish.
The spaghetti is made from squash and is lighter and crisper than normal pasta. It's served with parsnips, pecorino romano, pink pepper and sage.
I did not have room for dessert, but it was tempting.
Dinner hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 5 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Lunch is served 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily.
This meal for two cost about $40 per person.
