The Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce is getting a special beer to celebrate its sesquicentennial anniversary.

A panel of beer experts and enthusiasts, including Gov. John Hickenlooper, is deciding next week which beer will be worthy of the Chamber’s 150th-anniversary party in November.

Colorado's oldest brewery, Molson Coors Brewing Co., is planning to make the chamber's anniversary beer. The brewery's CEO and President Mark Hunter is expected to join Hickenlooper on the tasting panel July 6 along with chamber President and CEO Kelly Brough, current chamber Board of Directors Chair Todd Munson and Chair-elect Denise Burgess.

Certified beer expert and Import and Craft Trade Brewer for Tenth and Blake Beer Co. Dan Imdieke will lead the tasting panel, according to a news release from the chamber. All of the sample beers will come from Molson Coors.

Coors is brewing 150 Strong just for the party in November, said Colin Wheeler, spokesman for the brewery. Details for the party are still being worked out.

The Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce officially turns the big one-five-oh Nov. 13., marking a century and half that the organization has been advocating for Colorado's business community. Today the chamber's members span the state and include 3,000 businesses and their 300,000 employees.

The Denver Public Library is celebrating the chamber's anniversary with a historical exhibit about the organization on the seventh floor of the Denver Central Library location. The exhibit runs through October and highlights how the chamber grew from a group of concerned businessmen who wanted to ensure Denver was not passed over by the transcontinental railroad to the organization it is today.
