Pro-tip for dealing with unexpectedly cold weather: hole up in a sweaty little rock club with a whiskey and ignore it.

There's more than one way to do that in Denver, but tonight your best bet is probably Ought at Larimer Lounge, 2721 Larimer St. The lively post-punk band is in from Montréal with Austin's US Weekly and local support from Male Blonding.

Doors open at 7 p.m., tickets are $15 and the show starts at 8 p.m.

For this round of Ignite Nite at History Colorado, 1200 Broadway, professional writers from Lighthouse Writers Workshop and art historians from the American Museum of Western Art-The Anschutz Collection will be on hand to talk about stories. You'll be rewriting titles and captions for iconic works of art and watching stories in the stars in a portable dome from the Fiske Planitarium.

The program lasts from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for seniors and $12 general admission.

As (almost) always, you can drop by Stem Ciders, 2811 Walnut St., tonight to pair something tasty with some cider. Mermaids Bakery will be in house from 6 to 9 p.m. with cupcakes. Here's what you'll get for $20:

  • Cinnamon Churro cupcake with Real Dry cider
  • Pumpkin Spice cupcake with Le Chene cider
  • S'Mores cupcake with hopped cider
  • Salted Caramel Chocolate cupcake with L'Acier cider

Visit anytime in that three-hour window, but get there on the early side if you really want to make sure you don't miss out.
