“Voyeur” released this month on Netflix tells the story of how acclaimed journalist Gay Talese reported the controversial story about a Colorado motel owner who claims to have secretly spied on his guests.

Talese, 84, ran into trouble last summer when he released “The Voyeur’s Motel.” The nonfiction book was discredited after overlooked discrepancies about the former Manor House Motel in Aurora and its owner, Gerald Foos, were uncovered by The Washington Post.

“A lot of reporters think when they leave the story it’s all over. Sometimes it’s just beginning,” Talese says in the movie that was partially shot in Colorado.

Netflix vice president of original documentaries, Lisa Nishimura, calls the film “an endlessly fascinating exploration of desire, control and the stories we tell ourselves.”

“Directors Myles Kane and Josh Koury deftly catapult us into one of the most highly complex and wily relationships between writer and subject, where the unremitting pursuit of the ultimate scoop and the ever-shifting memory of a serial voyeur collide and create an entirely new truth,” Nishimura said in a statement.
