Our Mile High High Coffee Quest is down to four coffee shops — four caffeine slingers Denverites can't live without.
Because you love them so dearly, we decided to take some time to get to know them a little better.
Your contender in the north: Huckleberry Roasters.
Where: 4301 N. Pecos St., Sunnyside
Who: Co-founded and -owned by Koan Goedman and Mark Mann
What and Why: Though Huckleberry Roasters was officially founded in 2011, the flagship shop in Sunnyside didn't open until the end of 2013.
"For our flagship location, Huckleberry specifically sought out a location in a neighborhood — a neighborhood where people lived, rather than a place people came to work," Goedman wrote in an email. "We wanted to be the kind of coffee shop that fostered that most magical of coffee shop transitions ." a place where strangers become regulars, and regulars become friends. With the hard work of an incredible staff and a trusting, amazing community of regulars, we're proud that our vision has come to fruition many times over, and continues to do so daily!
I love the Sunnyside neighborhood because it's the best of both worlds in terms of residents. Lots of our neighbors have been there for decades, and are old school in their coffee preferences — they just want their coffee to taste like f*cking coffee, and we're happy to do that! At the same time, there are also a lot of new folks landing in Sunnyside who looking for friendly faces and tasty coffee on their new routine. We're happy to get to know them, too."
When: Open from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
