The Underground Music Showcase announced this year's lineup of more than 175 local and national acts, including headliners Alvvways, BJ the Chicago Kid, Deerhunter, Frankie Cosmos, Digable Planets and Classixx.

As usual, the UMS will be held along South Broadway at the end of July — specifically July 27-29.

Under new ownership this year, the festival is growing from one outdoor stage to four and moving the main stage back to the Goodwill property at Broadway and Archer.

Denver marketing and events agency Two Parts bought the UMS from the Denver Post Community Foundation early this year. The foundation has run the UMS since 2010, when it took over for Denver Post music critic Ricardo Baca. (You can read more on that in our oral history of the UMS.)

“UMS is the perfect representation of the multiverse of incredibly talented bands from in and around the Denver Metro area, showcasing everything we've got to offer here,” Tobias Krause of Two Parts said in a press release. “South Broadway is the perfect backdrop for this sort of festival. The corridor is full of energy, grit and character, which is what makes the Underground Music Showcase so special.”

The venue list hasn't been released yet, but the website touts "20+ indoor venues" in the area, so it looks like we can expect the usual spots.

Local bands on the lineup include new faces and a lot of the usual suspects — Chloe Tang, CRL CRRLL, The Velveteers, Slow Caves, iZCALLi, Colfax Speed Queen and more.
