Chef Lorena Cantarovici has opened her fourth location of Maria Empanada -- this one on Platte Street.

Maria Empanada's story is one of somewhat incredible growth. Cantarovici started out making empanadas at home and selling them out of her garage shortly after she came to Denver from Argentina. She and her tasty dough pockets have since garnered a handful of national awards to go with a handful of restaurants around metro Denver. The other locations are at South Broadway and Louisiana, Stanley Marketplace and Belleview Promenade.

"We are very careful and strategic about our growth so we have to be extremely selective on where we locate our restaurants. When we understood what was happening on Platte Street we knew we had to be part of ushering in the next phase of the historic Platte Street area as a special place in Denver," Cantarovici said in a press release. "We are excited to bring our brand to the vibrant neighborhoods of Platte Street, LoHi and Union Station -areas that are clamoring for something unique and easy to eat."

The new Maria Empanada is at 1700 Platte Street. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
