Happy weekend, folks! It's gonna be a toasty one, so slather on that sunblock, throw on a dad hat, and head out on the town to explore any of the many things offered this time 'round.

The big-ticket item is the Denver County Fair. It's Friday, Saturday and Sunday, up at the National Western Complex. If you've never been to a county fair, this one does not disappoint! The carnival rides go late into the night and there's all sorts of good food.

If you're looking for something with a little bit of a different flavor, the Denver Mart Drive-In is having three back-to-back showings of the new "Lion King" and "Aladdin" movies. This Saturday also marks the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing, so you can put on your bottle cap glasses and snoop around the science museum, watch "First Man" or listen to the Colorado Symphony pay tribute to some of the best space songs.

One (or many) small events in one city make up one giant weekend for Denverkind!
