Denver police are investigating a stabbing by a light rail station near the Auraria Campus, the department said on Twitter.

Police said the stabbing took place near the light rail station on 5th Street and a victim, a man, was taken to the hospital. Police said a man related to the stabbing was in custody. Police said there is no longer a threat to the area.

The Auraria Campus, which is home to three colleges, was placed on lockdown. Social media accounts from colleges there issued an alert to "Run, hide or fight if appropriate." At 4:54 p.m. CU Denver announced it had reopened.
