As movie theatres around the city have started opening their doors again, cinephiles have been eagerly waiting to hear when Denver Film's Sie Center will resume in-person screenings.

If that's you, we have some good news: Denver Film's annual festival will be an in-person event this fall.

Today, the nonprofit arts organization announced that Denver Film Festival will return for its 44th year with in-person film screenings at the Sie FilmCenter and a number of satellite locations. They'll also be hosting in-person programming like Red Carpet premieres, pop-up events and filmmaker conversations.

Denver Film Festival is the city's largest film festival, and one of Colorado's largest. Every year, it attracts thousands of cinephiles and hundreds of filmmakers to screen and celebrate works of esteemed independent and international cinema.

Last year, the festival went digital during the pandemic. Like many other groups, Denver Film plans to continue some of its virtual programming even as it reintroduces in-person events. Viewers will be able to stream parts of this year's festival online via Denver Film's Virtual Cinema platform.

The festival programming won't be announced until October, at which time you'll be able to buy individual in-person and virtual screening tickets, but you can buy early-bird ticket packs now. Ten-ticket packs cost $100 for Denver Film Members and $135 for non-members. Five-ticket packs are $50 for Denver Film Members and $70 for non-members. Early-bird pricing ends mid-August.

As for when the Sie FilmCenter will reopen for regular screenings, it looks like there will still be a bit of a wait. A representative for Denver Film told Denverite that while there's currently no set date, they plan to reopen the Sie FilmCenter to the public this fall, sometime before the festival. In the meantime, visitors can book private group screenings in one of the center's three theatres, or attend an in-person or virtual screening on Opening Night of CinemaQ Film Festival, Denver Film's LGBTQ+ film fest, which runs from August 26 - 29, 2021.

Denver Film Festival 44 runs from November 3-14, 2021.
