Pacific Ocean Marketplace, an Asian grocery store that has served Denverites for over three decades, has been sold to another grocery chain.

POM owners announced that all three stores have been acquired by Great Wall Supermarket, another Asian grocer with roots on the East Coast and has stores throughout the U.S.

The Lam family, which owns POM, announced the sale Thursday night.

“Since 1988, POM has developed from a 3,000 square foot store to three branches in the Denver metro area,” a news release said. “We are grateful for our local community support through various associations…Although we have left the supermarket business, we will continue to serve the Chinese and Asian community through our shopping centers.”

POM has three locations: Athmar Park, Aurora and Broomfield. Great Wall has begun restyling the Athmar Park location on Alameda Avenue. The release said the other two locations plan to follow suit in July and October.
