It's Memorial Day weekend in Denver and hopefully that means we all get some extra time with our friends and family in the sun. This weekend we've got a lineup of events that will feature free swing dance lessons, karaoke world championships and a slug-themed queer dance party.

Inspired By Everything solo art show at Lawrence & Larimer
Date: Friday, May 26, 6 p.m.
Location: 3225 E. Colfax Ave.
Shakerra Monét is a St. Louis native contemporary artist based out of Denver that focuses on the essence of body positivity, representation of the LGBTQIA+ community and highlighting black and brown individuals.
This Friday, Monét is partnering with local streetwear store Lawrence & Larimer to host a solo art show that will feature a collection of her work over the years, including exclusive collab t-shirts, coloring books and music by DJ Destiny Shynelle.
Tickets are $25 and include drinks as well as a raffle ticket to a limited edition t-shirt.
Little Man Ice Cream Memorial Day Weekend Events

Little Man Ice Cream Co is hosting 7 free live music events throughout the weekend. Fun events include swing dance lessons, soul line dancing with Freddie "Chicago" Edmonds of Denver Soul Line Dancers and a Blues & BBQ block party. Here's what you need to know:

"Swinging Under the Stars Saturday" featuring swing dance lessons from 7:30-8 p.m. and live music by Jeremy Mohney.

"Blues & BBQ" featuring Saucy's Southern BBQ Cuisine and two live bands throughout the day.

"Soul Line Dancing" featuring free dance classes with Freddie "Chicago" Edmonds of the Denver Soul Line Dancers.
2023 Karaoke World Championships
Locations across the country have been listed as trial locations for the 2023 Karaoke World Championships. The top singer from each venue will earn a place in the state finals. The top state champion will compete at the U.S. National Finals in Las Vegas. The winner of the 2023 KWCUSA Finals in August will represent the U.S. at the Karaoke World Championships in Panama.
If you wish to audition, Goosetown Tavern (3242 E. Colfax Ave) will be hosting their final audition date on Sunday, May 28 starting at 9 p.m.
If you wish to attend a local finals competition, 3 Kilts Tavern (1076 Ogden St) will be hosting their finals on Thursday, May 25 starting at 9 p.m.
Club Slug: A Queer Dance Party
Date: Saturday, May 27, 7-11 p.m.
Location: 525 Santa Fe Dr.
The Rainbow Dome creative collaborative team is hosting a slug-themed night of art, music, drinks, costume contests and swampy fun. DJ sets will be produced by DJ Bugs Bunny and Iowno, slug-themed food will be provided by PlayHaus Bakery and flash tattoos will be provided by 444 Yatty.

Vibes in the Park: The Cookout
Date: Sunday, May 28, 3-7 p.m.
Location: City Park, near 21st and York St.
Vibes in the Park (VITP) is working to recreate space for the Black community to come together and celebrate music, food and community. They're launching their season opener this Memorial Day weekend at City Park with free, first come, first serve summer punch.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, snacks, speakers, games, drinks, hand sanitizer and sunscreen.
