Looking to purchase some discounted books? Maybe even help support the Denver Public Library?
The Denver Public Library Friends Foundation has you covered.
From Aug. 18-20, the foundation will once again be hosting its Large Multi-Day Used Book Sale featuring over 18,000 books.
Usually, the foundation hosts the book sale every year. But for the past three years, the event has been on a hiatus due to the pandemic. The event is also typically hosted at the Central Library Branch, but with ongoing construction and renovation on the branch, that's also put a stop to the large sale.
But this year, the large sale is back for a three-day spree at the Historic Elitch Theater at 4550 W. 38th Ave.
Friday and Saturday, the sale will go from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Sunday the event will end at 2 p.m.
On Saturday, there will also be a kids story time along with a bubbles station.
On Sunday, the real bargains begin. There'll be a "bag sale" where folks can fill a bag with books for $12.
All books will be for sale at a bargain price aand the proceeds will go toward "operating support for library and foundation programs," according to a press release from the foundation.
Brittany Javor, the marketing and communications director for the foundation, said "operating support" will include providing emergency support, the addition of more author talks and visits, expanding the libraries collections and supporting the renovation of the Central Branch.
The Foundation is no longer taking book donations for the event, but gently used books can be dropped off at any branch location. Some items will be accepted into the collection and some will be used for future sales, such as this one. If you have more than two boxes, DPL asks that you call 720-865-1723 to make arrangements.
