We are days away from waving adiós to 2023 and there are lots of fun ways you can welcome 2024 with family and friends. Whether you're interested in late-night shenanigans or looking for a few activities before the ball drops, here are a handful of happenings around the city.

And a reminder that RTD is offering free rides on New Year's Eve starting at 7 p.m. and ending at 7 a.m. on Jan. 1. The D, H and L light rail lines won't operate during two New Year's Eve firework shows in downtown Denver.

NYE Fireworks in Downtown Denver

Location: 16th Street Mall, 1001 16th St.
Date: Sunday, Dec. 31, 9 p.m. and Midnight

Two 8-minute firework shows will take place in downtown Denver beginning at 9 p.m. and again at midnight. The 22nd Annual New Year's Eve Fireworks will be launched simultaneously from two rooftops with prime viewing available along the 16th Street Mall.

IgNight NYE Hot Air Balloons and Ice Sculpting at Tivoli Quad

Location: Tivoli Quad, 1000 Larimer St.
Date: Sunday, Dec. 31, 4-7 p.m.

In an effort to revitalize Denver's nightlife and downtown economy, and preserve the city's cultural identity, ONE Denver, formerly the 87 Foundation, is hosting a family-friendly NYE celebration featuring 50-foot hot air balloons, live ice sculpting, and other family-friendly activities, like a glow-in-the-dark scavenger hunt.

The event is free with RSVP and will feature speeches by ONE Denver's executive director Stephen Brackett (member of the Flobots and Colorado Music Ambassador) as well as Mayor Mike Johnston at 4 p.m. and 4:20 p.m. respectively.

Movies at Denver's Sie Film Center

Location: 2510 E Colfax Ave.
Date: Sunday, Dec. 31

Catch a film at Denver's Sie Film Center with showings of Miyazaki's latest "The Boy and the Heron," Michael Mann's "Ferrari" or the 1972 film "The Poseidon Adventure" about a New Year's Eve ocean liner that capsizes.

New Years Eve at Flight Club Denver

Location: 1959 16th St Mall
Date: Sunday, Dec. 31, 9-1 a.m.

Raise a glass and throw darts with friends at Flight Club Denver. Individual tickets include two drink tickets, a complimentary midnight champagne toast, bottomless bites and darts. Groups of six to 20 can also reserve a private dining area for the night.

Downtown Denver Ice Rink on New Years Eve

Location: Skyline Park, located along Arapahoe Street between 15th and 17th Streets

If you haven't had a chance to check out Denver's free holiday ice skating rink, the ice will be open on New Year's Eve until 11 p.m.

Silent Disco NYE Party at Ratio Beerworks

Location: 2920 Larimer St.
Date: Sunday, Dec. 31, 9-1 a.m.

Enjoy NYE decorations, a projection of the NYE ball drop and a free taproom party. The purchase of a $30 silent disco ticket includes headphones and two beers or a variety of non-alcoholic options.

New Years Eve at Rooted Craft Kitchen 

Location: 3940 W 32nd Ave.
Date: Sunday, Dec. 31

Stop by from 1-5 p.m. for a family-friendly New Year's Eve party featuring bottomless champagne and Nashville-style fried chicken. Click here for tickets.

Then come back for dinner from 6:30-9 p.m. for a three-course menu that includes seared ahi tuna, roasted wagyu meatballs and seared diver scallops. Click here for tickets.

NYE Bash at Spangalang Brewery 

Location: 2736 Welton St.
Date: Sunday, Dec. 31, 7-2 a.m.

Start off the night with a live jazz set by world-renowned saxophonist Tony Exum Jr. beginning at 8 p.m.; doors open at 7 p.m. Then stick around for a mix of Afrobeats, Hip-Hop and R&B by DJ Destiny Shynelle beginning at 10 p.m.

NYE Grand Opening of Riot House 

Location: 1920 Market St.
Date: Sunday, Dec. 31, 9 p.m.

Adding to the festivities along Market Street, Riot House is a 16,000-square-foot hybrid restaurant/nightclub launching its opening night in LoDo this New Year's Eve.

Backed by the team behind Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row, Riot House's grand opening will feature VIP bottle service, a countdown and cocktails to help ring in the New Year.

NYE at Larimer Lounge 

Location: 2721 Larimer St.
Date: Sunday, Dec. 31, 9 p.m.

Stop by Denver's Larimer Lounge for an NYE party featuring music by DJ's CJ, Amba B2B Big Rizzy, Don Corleone and Fuse.

NYE at Ophelia's Electric Soapbox

Location: 1215 20th St.
Date: Sunday, Dec. 31, 10 p.m.

Party with electronic music artist Random Rab and 9 Theory at Denver's multilevel music venue on New Year's Eve. Doors open and dinner service begins at 5 p.m., with the music set kicking off at 10 p.m.

NYE Jazz at Denver's Dazzle and Nocturne 

Date: Sunday, Dec. 31

Stop by Denver's Dazzle for a set by Nostal-jazz, a Denver-based cover band performing the soundtracks of retro video games, TV theme songs, and blockbuster films of the past few decades. Their first set will begin at 7 p.m. and their second set will begin at 10 p.m.

Or check out Nocturne for their 8th Annual New Year's Eve Celebration with sounds by Wil Swindler/Marion Powers Quintet featuring Ben Markley on piano, Seth Lewis on bass and Alejandro Castaño on drums. Early show seating begins at 5:45 p.m. and late show seating opens at 9:15 p.m.
