Colorado among top ten states tweeting about refugees
You can exhale now — Colorado ranked among the top ten states for positive refugee tweets, according to data compiled by Abodo and the International Rescue Committee.
Colorado placed seventh for the number of overall tweets about refugees, behind Hawaii and ahead of Vermont. New York had the most tweets about refugees, 93.47 tweets per 100,000 residents according to Abodo.
In terms of positivity, Abodo used hashtags like #welcomeRefugees or #noMuslims to calculate an overall positive or negative sentiment toward refugees. Colorado was eighth among the states tweeting, but way less positive than Washington, which was first place.

Worth noting here is that Colorado was only expected to get about 2 percent of Syrian refugees, according to Colorado Public Radio. That’s because resettlement is usually about reuniting families and Colorado doesn’t have a high population of Syrian immigrants or refugees. The state does have a lot of Iraqi and Burmese refugees, among others.
