The Texas-based supply chain distributor McLane Foodservice Inc. plans to bring about 240 jobs to an industrial site being developed near Denver International Airport.

McLane is building a 250,000-square-foot operation in the Nexus at DIA site under development in Commerce City, developers announced Wednesday.

Another undisclosed company plans to build an even larger, 800,000-square-foot multi-tenant building on the site near Peña Boulevard and Tower Road, The Schuck Corp. chairman Steve Schuck said.

Schuck Communities, an affiliate of the Colorado Springs-based Schuck Corp., and Littleton-based C H Thompson Co. have invested more than $300 million in the 250-acre Nexus site during the last two years.

The developers are adding streets and infrastructure to the site to get the area shovel ready for companies or developers looking to build.

"There's an enormous amount of infrastructure work to be done still, but the demand for property is so great McLane decided to purchase its property and build simultaneously with our building infrastructure," Schuck said.

The undisclosed real estate company has a similar agreement with the developers.

The Denver metro's booming economy and proximity to DIA are helping drive industrial development and sales near the airport, Schuck said. "We're a less expensive, low-cost alternative to other sites in the area."

So far, about 120 acres have been purchased within the site, Schuck said. Mclane purchased 20 acres. The undisclosed company purchased about 40 acres.
