Broncos superfans may recognize Ralph "Limo Driver" Williams, Jr., and the stretch Mercedes that became his vessel for Denver pride. In another dive into the Denver Public Library Western History Collection's archive we found this photo of the icon's original customized 1973 Benz. Let's take a little Throwback Thursday look.
While Williams has always given his fandom and pride to Denver, the city has not exactly been so kind to him. In 2006 the Mercedes was stolen, and later resurfaced destroyed in a local junk yard.
When he's got wheels, Williams uses his famous vehicles to help groups like Make a Wish Foundation and the Boys and Girls Club raise money and take kids to games. He thinks his unique expression of Broncos fandom brings something special to the table, and he says it's important to him to use his fame and swagger to give back to the community.
"When you have fans who love their team," he says, "the limo represents them in a special way."
And he's certainly looking forward to tonight's game. With a brand new hat and suit, Williams will be a sight to see around Mile High Stadium... though perhaps not inside:
He's still looking for tickets, if you've got a lead.
