Sunday, Sept. 25, will be your last chance to watch a Broncos game at the Campus Lounge.

Owner Jim Wiste will be closing up for good at 701 S. University Blvd. at the end of the day Sunday, ending the Bonnie Brae bar’s decades-long run as the friendly neighborhood dive.

“Well, I’ve been here 40 years-plus and I just wanted to leave on my terms,” he said. “I wanted to do some other things and be a customer.”

Wiste, a former All-American DU hockey player, didn’t want to say too much about the bar’s future, other than that it will be closed for a short time for remodeling before reopening under new ownership. He also said that the current staff will be able to interview with the new owner.

“We had a a lot of people and had a lot of fun,” Wiste said, “and I guess it’s time to move on.”
