The Denver Broncos are the second-most successful American sports franchise since Pat Bowlen bought the team in 1984.

With their latest win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Denver (4-0 this year) improved to 316-197-1 in the Bowlen era. That equals a 61.7 winning percentage, which was good enough to pass the Los Angeles Lakers for second-best winning percentage over the last 32 years.

Here's the list:

  1. San Antonio Spurs, 63.3%
  2. Denver Broncos, 61.7%
  3. Los Angeles Lakers, 61.6%
  4. New England Patriots, 60.5%
  5. San Francisco 49ers, 60.3%

Denver has gone to nine AFC Championship games, played in seven Super Bowls and won three of those since 1984. It's been quite a run.
