The Denver Broncos snapped their two-game losing streak with a 27-9 beatdown of the Houston Texans on Monday.
In keeping pace with the Oakland Raiders in the AFC West, the Broncos made former quarterback Brock Osweiler's night look miserable. Denver also rushed the ball effectively for the first time since mid-September.
Here are some numbers that mattered from the Broncos' win:
3.2 — Osweiler's yards per attempt on 41 attempts. That was a historically bad number for someone with such a high volume of throws.
He threw for 131 yards. Did I mention he had a rough night?
3 — Osweiler fumbles. Houston was fortunate to only lose one of them. This was ruled a fumble. Denver recovered, and went on to kick a field goal on its ensuing drive.
190 — Rushing yards for the Broncos. Their previous season high was 149, which came in Week 1 against the Panthers. Denver hadn't gone over the century mark since Week 2 before Monday. C.J. Anderson (16 carries, 107 yards, one TD) and Devontae Booker (17 carries, 83 yards, one TD) were both excellent.
5.9 — Yards per carry Anderson and Booker recorded on their 20 rushes between the tackles, according to Pro Football Focus. Denver was especially successful rushing right up the gut against Houston. Broncos center Matt Paradis and guards Max Garcia and Michael Schofield all were strong in the win.
52 — Receiving yards Denver corners Aqib Talib and Chris Harris combined to allow. That came on 10 catches, PFF says. Outstanding work from them against a really good group of Texans receivers. Dan Wetzel hit it right on the head:
