A fundraiser has been launched to support the family of Jason Coy, the 36-year-old man who died after falling from a staircase at Mile High Stadium following a Denver Broncos game on Monday.

Coy leaves behind his wife and five children, ages 11, 8, 5, 2 and 6 months, according to the fundraiser page. The effort was organized by Farin Musgrave, who is a Facebook friend of Jason Coy's widow.

"As you can imagine, this family faces unbearable grief and a financial burden many of us will never know," Musgrave wrote. Coy's widow is a stay-at-home mother, she added.

"This family has lost an amazing husband, father, provider, and caring man. Jason's smile, laugh, and personality was felt by everyone he met. His family was his life, and while we cannot fill that loss, we can help ease the pain of the financial uncertainty that lies ahead."

People had donated $6,500 of a $30,000 goal as of 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. The money is coming from friends and family, but also from online Broncos fan communities.

Coy was a resident of Milliken, according to phone listings and friends' posts on Facebook.
