The A Line will continue to operate past November 5. RTD announced Wednesday that the Federal Railroad Administration has extended the November deadline to fix crossing gates on the line.
Since opening in April, the University of Colorado A Line has needed flaggers at each of the crossings in case the gates stay down too long. And the B Line has one flagger.
Under the waiver extension, Denver Transit Partners, the group RTD contracted to build and maintain the line, must implement the items contained in a plan presented to the FRA last Friday.
RTD and DTP also have to have twice weekly progress meetings with the regional FRA and monthly meetings with the FRA in Washington, D.C.
"Flaggers will remain in place until all actions are completed to correct crossing gate down time and other issues," RTD said in their release.
