On Saturday morning Denver's annual Veterans Day parade circled Civic Center Park. Just days after the 2016 presidential election and subsequent massive protests in town and across the country, issues of race and national identity have been in the forefronts of peoples' minds.
But on this day Denver witnessed something of a softening, a moment to embrace national pride and celebrate the sacrifices of armed forces without conflict. And, to boot, the JROTC crowd represented an incredibly diverse set of young people who are on their way to leadership positions in their community.
