SendGrid Inc., the company responsible for managing and sending more than 30 billion emails for Uber, Spotify, Airbnb and more, opened its world headquarters in downtown Denver this month.
And it is looking to fill the space up quickly.
SendGrid consolidated its three Colorado offices, including the original headquarters in Boulder, to a 52,000-square-foot office at 1801 California St. SendGrid’s original Denver office at 1451 Larimer St. stayed in family, trading hands to two SendGrid expats for their startup, ParkiFi.
Why so much space? Because so much hiring.
SendGrid currently employs about 240 Colorado-based employees, but expects to grow to close to 900 total employees by 2020. The company will have new hires working in software engineering, sales, finance and human resources roles, and about 70 percent of them will be in Denver.
All that growth will be necessary if the company hopes to turn $100 million in revenue and go public in 2017.
“If you’re going to scale a company somewhere, you’ve got to have that flow, that talent engine. And in Denver, you have it,” Sameer Dholakia, CEO of SendGrid, told the Denver Business Journal.
