Jermaine Jones will soon be heading west.
The Colorado Rapids traded the 35-year-old midfielder's rights to the Los Angeles Galaxy in exchange for the Galaxy's first-round pick in the 2017 draft and a conditional pick in the 2018 draft, the team announced Tuesday.
“With this trade, we gain a lot of flexibility and a chance to get another young prospect through the MLS SuperDraft,"said Rapids president Tim Hinchey in a statement. "During the next couple of months, we will look to continue to add talented players and further develop what is already a solid roster foundation.”
Jones spent one season with Colorado. He appeared in nine regular-season matches and all four playoff matches. He recorded three goals and three assists as a member of the Rapids.
