The founder of CorePower Yoga reportedly died this month after accidentally falling in his San Diego home.

San Diego police Lt. Mike Holden told Denverite on Dec. 15 that it would be four to eight weeks before Trevor Tice’s cause of death was known. But NBC7 in San Diego reported Friday “multiple law enforcement sources close to the investigation” say the death was accidental.

Police are still waiting for a report from The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office before releasing an official cause of death, Holden said. The lieutenant declined to confirm the television station’s report that Tice, 48, died after falling.

“We’re not releasing any information regarding the scene at this time,” he said. “I don’t know where their alleged sources came from in the department.”

Officers found Tice dead in his home Dec. 12 after a friend asked for him to be checked on. The friend had reportedly gone to the house and saw something that caused concern. “Due to suspicious circumstances,” police were investigating the death.

Tice grew up in Telluride and opened the first CorePower Yoga studio on Grant Street in downtown Denver in 2002. During the last 14 years, the company expanded to more than 150 locations across 20 states.

CorePower generated $45.2 million in revenue in 2012 and was on the path to eclipsing $100 million more recently, according to a 2015 Inc. article.
