Pot raids in the metro:

The feds and local authorities are busting about 20 suspected illegal marijuana grows in Denver and nearby counties, as Tom McGhee reports. The morning raids included one at West 8th Avenue and Kalamath and one at 7100 West Colorado Drive. (DP)

Trump or Gardner?

A new survey finds 39 percent of Colorado voters view Republican Sen. Cory Gardner favorably, while 38 percent view him unfavorably, as Mark Matthews reports. President Donald Trump got 43 percent approval – and 55 percent disapproval. The poll's margin of error is more than 4 percent, so Trump and Gardner are essentially tied in favorability, while Trump is distinctly more disliked here. (DP)

What the viaducts meant to Denver:

I pulled a ton of library photos and retraced where some of Denver's elevated roads and streetcars once ran. The coolest artifact: a second-floor doorway to nowhere at the Tattered Cover. (Denverite)

Housing as infrastructure:

A new group, All In Denver, is calling on the city to multiply its plans for housing spending. They want voters to decide on $100 million or more for affordable housing this November. Erica's on the beat. (Denverite)

The Polis pot plan:

Jared Polis, a Congressman from Boulder, is proposing an amendment that would forbid the federal government from messing with weed where it's legal, as Adrian reports. (Denverite)

The physical art of film:

Kyle Harris has an interesting post on a group of filmmakers who develop by hand, "experimenting with chemicals and other modes." Coolest part: There's an event this weekend at Sie FilmCenter where filmmaker Alex Mackenzie will not just do live manipulation of film but also will teach people how to "hack old projectors and filmmaking equipment." (Westword)

Non-college basketball:

I've been vicariously following the Nuggets through Christian. Now they're at the crux of their season, their playoff hopes on the lines. CAN YOU TAKE THE HEAT?! Yes, you can. But you better read this first. (Denverite)
