Hi!

Are you a college or high school student in the Denver area who would like to spend the summer with Denverite working on the future of local news?

We're looking to hire two interns -- one in college, one in high school -- to join the Denverite team for about three months.

College intern

This is a paid internship.

We are looking for someone who can jump in on breaking news and features, and who wants to learn about the latest newsroom technologies and techniques to prepare for (or experiment with) a career in local journalism.

The ideal intern will have already done some reporting through school or elsewhere on breaking and feature stories, have experience with social media, and have at least some familiarity with the metro Denver area and major news stories here.

We work in WordPress, and experience there may also be an advantage.

Interns will be expected to pitch many stories each week, have a positive attitude and a professional demeanor, and be eager to learn.

Our intern will work with us about two and a half days a week for about three months. Please send an email with "College intern" in the subject line to [email protected] with a resume, links to clips you've published (or attached clips if you only have them that way), links to social media accounts and a short note about why you'd want to work with Denverite!

Other things we'd love to know: What's something you really want to cover this summer? Where do you get your news? Where do your friends get their news?

Applications are due by the end of the day April 12.

High school intern

There is a small stipend associated with this internship.

The ideal high school intern will be familiar with the Denver metro area, interested in learning about online and data journalism, and eager to learn skills that will make you stand out among your young journalist peers.

This will most likely be one or two days per week. It's a pilot program and we'll be learning together. Please send an email with "High school intern" in the subject line to [email protected] with a resume -- looking for extracurricular activities, interests, cool accomplishments, summer jobs or volunteer work, not necessarily previous journalism experience -- and a short note about why you'd want to work with Denverite!

Applications are due by the end of the day April 19.
