The maker of 90 Shilling and Cutthroat Porter announced plans for a new taproom and 10-barrel pilot brewhouse Monday in Denver's River North neighborhood.
Odell Brewing Co. plans to redevelop a factory building near the southwest corner of 30th and Larimer streets. The Fort Collins-based beer maker hopes to open its Denver taproom in late 2017, according to a news release.
Odell Brewing Co. got its start in 1989 — early in the life of Colorado's craft beer scene. Today, the brewery is the third largest craft beer maker in Colorado and the 27th largest in the nation, according to the Brewers Association.
“For years we’ve explored the potential of a second taproom, and Denver has always been at the top of that list,” said CEO, Wynne Odell, in a statement. “It took a lot of patience, but we’re thrilled to be joining the RiNo community which has a booming craft beer scene and a long history of celebrating independent, creative businesses.”
Odell's Denver location won't be too far from The Woods taproom New Belgium Brewing Co. is planning in Denver. Colorado's largest brewer plans to open its 10-barrel satellite location on the ground floor of The Source Hotel. The hotel is slated to open in December near Brighton Boulevard and 35th Street.
Odell plans to open in a two-story, 4,000-square-foot facility at 2945 Larimer St. Denver-based LCP Development purchased the site in December for $3.1 million. The 100-year-old building is adjacent to the recently announced Shake Shack restaurant expected to open later this year.
The Denver taproom is expected to include two bars with 15 Odell tap handles, an outdoor patio with two fire pits, a live music and performance space and a partially-covered rooftop. The brewhouse will be focused on experimental beers only available in the taproom.
“The RiNo brewery will be solely focused on that exploration, and we’re excited to share that with Denver, one of the most educated and passionate craft beer communities in the world," said COO Brendan McGivney, in a statement.
