Conor O’Neill’s is closing in Boulder. For real this time (probably).

You'd be forgiven if, like me, you're eyeing the news that Boulder's beloved Conor O'Neill's Irish Pub is closing with skepticism.

The owners said the bar would close last fall and that didn't stick for much more than week.

But this time, they say, it's forever.

The announcement came late Thursday night on Facebook:

We regret to inform our beloved community of Boulder and beyond that Conor O'Neill's will be closing for good Saturday night, the 22nd of April. While business has increased over the last six months our sales are unfortunately not at the level to make Conor O'Neill's a viable business any longer.

While Saturday the 22nd will be the last day we are serving our doors will be open the following Sunday the 23rd for anyone who wishes to purchase a part of Conor's history.

We are so thankful for the 18 years we have served this community and the last six months have truly been an amazing gift. Thank you!

Letting people buy pieces of the bar is a nice move, and one that came from experience. The last time around, an employee told me, people just stole things.

So go do your final, final round of car bombs and say goodbye to a piece of Boulder history. Probably.
