It’s your last weekend to drive Mount Evans

The highest portion of the Mount Evans Road closes after this weekend.

Colorado Department of Transportation will shut down the final five miles of the road to the 14er’s summit on Tuesday, Sept. 5. It should reopen late next spring.

The lower section will remain open several weeks later, allowing travelers to get up to Summit Lake.

While you’re in the area, we highly recommend this alpine lakes hike that starts at Echo Lake.

Weird times
