The Sea Lion Fountain at Civic Center Park is getting an internationally known art installation for October: Ai Weiwei’s “Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads.”

It’s exactly what it sounds like.

The 12 bronze sculptures are each about 5 feet tall and 2,000 pounds.  They’ll be installed from 10 to 11 a.m. on Oct. 3 and remain in Civic Center Park through the end of the month.

The sculptures’ time in Denver is part of a multi-year tour that has since 2010 brought Weiwei’s work to São Paulo, Miami, Toronto, Boston, Taipei, Mexico City, London, New York, Prague, Vienna and more.
