Oskar Blues Fooderies is expanding its beery empire again, signing a 10-year lease at 1630 Market St. in downtown Denver.
An Oskar Blues Grill and Brew will open in November inside the historic, 10,636-square-foot and two-story structure right across the street from the former Market Street Station lot that will soon be occupied by micro apartments, offices and retail space.
The space was formerly home to Crocs — the Mexican bar and grill, not the shoe brand.
“We see the location’s history as being an asset to Grill and Brew’s theme,” Oskar Blues Grill and Brew’s Restaurant Director & Partner Jason Rogers said in a release. “Crocs provided a great mix of dancing, food and fun, while its predecessor Brenden’s Pub was known for being one of the city’s best spots for live jazz. We’re hoping to bring the spot back to life with our own version of food and Americana music. Denver is currently home to many international brands and people. We feel Oskar Blues Grill and Brew will be a unique offering to market that currently doesn’t exist and will be an asset in a vast portfolio of eateries and bars.”
If you've been to and Oskar Blues Grill and Brew before, you know about what to expect. Similar to the flagship location in Lyons, the downtown Denver location will have restaurant and bar service upstairs and a music venue downstairs.
The restaurant will serve Oskar Blues' usual Southern-centric menu for lunch and dinner. The music venue, called Black Buzzard, is a 5,500 space that will have a capacity of 330, a stage, full-service bar and a food kiosk. It'll be equipped with a professional sound system and host the kinds of live music you've come to expect at Oskar Blues — Americana, bluegrass, rock, blues, reggae and folk.
They'll be hiring 90 people for front-of-the-house jobs and 30 for back-of-the-house jobs.
