Two Wheel Feel, which occupies the former storefront of Collins' Bicycles, will close down if someone doesn't buy it. Asking price: $40,000.

Collins was one of the longest-running businesses on East Colfax, founded in 1934 and lasting three generations, as Bree Davies reported for Westword in 2015.

Scott and Malissa Spero took possession of the shop at 3217 East Colfax from Tito Collins in June 2015 and renamed it. The Speros also own the coffeeshop Hooked on Colfax, 3212 E. Colfax. Earlier this year, a Craigslist post listed the bike shop for sale.

On Oct. 20, the owners said on Facebook that negotiations with a prospective buyer had fallen through, but they still wanted a buyer.

"We really don't want to see this place turned into another bar. So, we will add: we are open to some negotiations to a reasonable extent or possible financing where you pay us over time instead of getting a bank loan," they wrote on Facebook.

The $40,000 price doesn't include the store's inventory and obviously doesn't include the property itself. Buying the shop would let the new owners skip "the hassle of finding and building out a space, dealing with contractors that always go over budget and dealing with the city for permits," the business declared in a for-sale listing on Craigslist, which has since been removed.

Two Wheel Feel will have a going-out-of-business sale starting Saturday, with bikes listed at wholesale prices. The owners didn't reply to earlier calls for comment.
