It’s all over, folks. The people have spoken clicked and the winner of our Denver coffee shop bracket is Crema Coffee House.

The Five Points favorite traveled a long way to the top — coming in strong during our nomination process and winning several tough battles in our bracket. It had to face Pablo’s Coffee, Blue Sparrow Coffee, Purple Door Coffee and the Denver Bicycle Café on its way to victory.

This is the second time in a few months spacious but cozy shop at 2862 Larimer St. has seen a show of support from its fans. Back in November, when Ink Coffee put out its “Happily gentrifying the neighborhood” sign, the controversy raised a chorus of Denverites saying Crema is better anyway.

Crema first opened in 2009, when that part of Larimer Street wasn’t quite yet as busy as it is today. Since then, bars, breweries and other businesses have sprung up around it and Crema has held strong, and recently expanded into some space at Denver Central Market. Co-owners Noah Price and chef Jonathan Power also opened a restaurant, Populist, down the street.

We asked a handful of Crema voters why it’s their go-to:

“It’s pretty simple, honestly: Crema makes the best cappuccino I’ve ever had. That’s not hyperbole. THE. BEST. EVER,” wrote Jay O’Meara. “Plus they are super cool and nice people.”

“Crema is my neighborhood staple and my gold standard for what a coffee shop should be like,” wrote Annie Booth, a Five Points resident. “I love it for its hip atmosphere, friendly staff, incredible food and the best tasting bottomless drip coffee in Denver.”
