Green Door Furniture — the antique furniture shop and Tennyson Street staple that burned in November 2016 — is still a few steps away from full restoration.

Once that’s done, building owner Richard Alfred Stewart has intentions of selling.

The building sits at 3985 Tennyson St. — a corner lot centrally located on the busy strip.

Weather has been a significant impediment to the final steps. Most of the remaining work needed is on the outside of the building, Stewart said, and at this point it’s primarily cosmetic.

“We’re trying to get it done, but it’s been snowing all month,” he said.

Stewart, who is in his 80s, is realistic about the timeline for completion.

“Of course it’s taking a while,” he said, “I’m old. What do you want me to do, get out there in the snow and fucking tap dance?”

And once work is done, Stewart is ready to part ways with his building. He also owns the parking lot across the street from the building and would like to be in a position to profit off his lot by partnering with the building’s future owners.
