I'm feeling very Garfield about this particular Monday, mostly thanks to this stupid wind, so let's get down to business.

Living with gun violence

I'll let Denver Post reporter Elizabeth Hernandez's words lead you into this one:

Dale Munholland’s classroom at Pomona High in Arvada is equipped with the necessities in  modern-day America: a touch-screen projector, a computer — and a bucket filled with kitty litter, just in case an active-shooting drill lasts longer than a student’s bladder can handle. (DP)

Rabid skunks

That's a thing we have to talk about now, apparently. There have been nine sightings in southwest Denver in the past month. Act accordingly. (Denverite)

Housing

A 160-unit residential building coming to 3770 Walnut St. will offer nightly and weekly rental options on some floors, and monthly and yearly on others. It'll also have a rooftop bar, a fitness center and a concierge. (DBJ)

The median home price for metro Denver hit $400,000 in February. That's up from $360,000 this time last year. Meanwhile, the average single-family detached home price rose above $500,000 for the first time. (7)

Wildfire

Fires in Elbert County, driven by the strong wind, destroyed five homes and four barns and burned about 375 acres as of Sunday afternoon. No one has been hurt. (AP)

Food & drink

Pablo's Coffee is getting a third location. Owner Craig Connor says the 6,000-square-foot spot on Colfax and Syracuse will include a roasting operation. (BusinessDen)
