Hi folks! Dave Burdick, editor of Denverite, here.
Kendall Smith, the guy responsible for Denverite's events, told me a while back that he was thinking about doing an event around Bike to Work Day that would be a place for people to stop on their way home from work. I bike to work a fair amount, as do Allan, Ashley and Kevin, so I was pretty excited for Denverite to be part of that day.
But when Kendall said he was going to turn it into a full-on block party with food trucks, a DJ, beer from Breckenridge Brewery and booths? That's when I understood what he really had in mind -- the first year of a big, annual event.
It was great seeing so many people -- a nice, steady stream of people heading home from work over the four-hour event. We worked the Denverite booth in shifts and met a lot of people who read us regularly and love us -- I gave out a few possibly over-excited high fives -- in addition to a few people who'd never heard of our two-year-old news organization who signed up for the newsletter on the spot when they heard what we're about.
And of course it was great meeting Denverite members!
Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate Bike to Work Day, Denver and good times! See you at our next event!
